As we delve into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), learners will have the opportunity to not only learn about these goals but also actively engage in research, creativity, and problem-solving.

Lesson Overview

Overview Activity Objectives
Opening Activity Learners will think of the global issues that must be addressed to make the world better and more sustainable.
  • Identify and consider critical global issues that require attention for the advancement of a better and more sustainable world.
Main Activity Learners will choose any two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and design an infographic using Piktochart, which will contain research with regard to the goal as well as strategies to achieve it.
  • Engage in independent research regarding Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Communicate their findings through visually engaging infographics.
Closing Activity  Learners will identify obstacles and challenges in the way of achieving the chosen sustainable development goals and present it in the same infographic.

How can I modify this activity for my learners who require more support?
To adjust this activity for your learners who require more support, consider the following: 1. Scaffolded Research: Provide learners with specific resources or key points to research for each SDG. This helps them focus on essential information without feeling overwhelmed. 2. Visual Aids: Offer visual aids like pre-selected images, icons, and templates within Piktochart to assist learners in creating their infographics.

Information Literacy
Researching the chosen SDGs encourages learners to navigate online sources, evaluate information credibility, and select relevant content. They practice effective online search strategies, which contributes to the development of information literacy.

Slide 13

Now that the learners have completed their research and formulated strategies with regard to SDGs, encourage them to think about the challenges that may come in the way of achieving their chosen goals. The idea is to encourage critical thinking.
